Restoration Work
Here at Articole Studios we have been restoring different objects for many years.
We can restore almost anything, we like to work on anything that has a certain challenge!
Here are some examples of work we have completed over the last few years:
40’ long fiberglass frieze
    |
Made in the 1960s and positioned on the side of a swimming pool in Erith.
We took 12 sections off the wall, brought them back to our studio, sandblasted the front, repaired the back, restored the front and repainted it. |
Restoration and replacement of 1850’s terracotta stonework

  |
| All work is being done for a large country house in England. Existing stone work was made and fixed in around 1850 and is now falling apart. We are taking mould off old terracotta sections and replacing them with a modern acrylic based material. |
1956 Jukebox
   |
| This wasn’t working when it came in. We dismantled everything, stripped the wood frame and repaired it. Then we sprayed it in red metalflake with a deep gloss laquer. We serviced the mechanism and re installed it. It works and sounds worndeful. |
1957 Messerchmitt 3 wheeled microcar

  |
This was a basket case of bits when it came in. The main body tub has had most panels replaced. It hasn’t been on the road for over 30 years!
Obscure missing parts have been located from as far a way as Sweden. The Messerschmitt has been repainted and is currently being re assembled with all new trim etc. |
1971 VW Camper
  |
| This came in as an unfinished project and went out with new engine, new interior. It was lowered and given new alloy wheels and tyres etc. |
Pair of 19th century Giant Griffins
   |
| Originals in terracotta had been stored for 50 years, Repairs were made, moulds taken then reproduced in fiberglass and antiqued. The originals were then restored and replaced back on giant gateposts. |
1897 Wax Gorilla Automaton
  |
| One of a kind full size Gorilla with girl under its arm! Made in Germany in 1897 (pre dates King Kong by 30 years!) Needed some restoration to the mechanical mechanism and the wax head and hands. |
1950s fiberglass sky rocket ride
 |
| This is fibreglass and is awaiting us to start restoring it.The fiberglass will need repairs, the mechanism will be serviced and the whole thing repainted. |
Fibreglass Chase air sculpture
  |
| This statue was removed from a Priors Court School and returned to our studio. It was repaired. Fibreglass repairs were made and then it was repainted and reinstalled at Priors Court. |
Early restoration project - 1976!
  |
This is me in 1976 with my 1st restoration project a 1960 Messerschmitt! It cost me £100!
I restored it from the ground up and used it for 18 months before moving on to bigger cars. |
